The text at left describes the geology, exploration, and notable events in the history of Duluth and Minneapolis/ St. Paul. Vignettes at the top show the Development of Transportation and Industry, with the state seal in the center, and at the bottom titled "Nineteen Men and a Woman Who Have Helped Make Minnesota History"
